Website Content Management Systems

Joomla and WordPress are wonderful, full-featured website content management systems (CMS) that put the control back into the hands of the person charged with loading the website content.  With a bit of training by the right company, anyone can aspire to content management glory and deliver a professional online presentation for their organisation and brand.

But which one is better? Which framework do you recommend? Joomla and WordPress are both 'open source' CMS solutions that are free to download and install by anyone with the knowhow.  This, however, has often caused problems where the skill level and experience of the person recommending and implementing the solution is not up to par or is only sufficient enough to take the website so far.  F2 has over 10 years experience in the implementation of Joomla and WordPress, however our experience and skill level with Joomla goes back to when it was known as 'Mambo' in 2001/2002 and, since then, we have implemented many hundreds of websites using this amazing framework. We, therefore, would always implement a website based on the Joomla framework, not because we believe it is a better framework, but because we have a huge accrued experience in implementing, extending and supporting and training for it.

It is also important to understand that the fundamental requirement in implementing any technology is one of partnership and ongoing commitment between the client and the person or company implementing the technology.

Why Joomla

F2’s knowledge and experience with the Joomla CMS dates back to 2001 when it was known as 'Mambo' and, since then, F2 has provided design, implementation, customisation, training, hosting and ongoing support/training services for many clients.

F2 believes that Joomla is a great platform for flexible website content delivery and allows for great multi-site scalability as well as data sharing between websites, web applications and social networks. Joomla is the first CMS that the F2 Platfform web solutions were design and developed to interface with, now followed by Wordpress.

F2 is committed to the ongoing evolution of Joomla and, thus, liaise with many 3rd party Joomla developers all over the globe for bug/issue reporting, discussing possible solutions and requesting new features. F2, through the purchase of 3rd party extensions on each project, therefore supports these developers financially and ensures the continued growth of their software and momentum and communities behind their development.

Why Wordpress

F2 believes that, like Joomla, WordPress is an amazing open source content management system (CMS) with the ability to allow scalability and data sharing between websites, web applications and networks, and is well supported with ongoing development and 3rd party applications and plug-ins.

F2 work with and support many clients using WordPress and have developed the F2 Platfform suite of web solutions to integrate directly with WordPress.
